Background

Born to a medical practitioner and a Harvard alumnus himself; renowned educationist, social activist and spiritual leader, Teja Singh Ji (1877-1965) had observed that children living in far-flung rural areas remained uneducated due to lack of schools in their surroundings.

Most of them would easily fall victim to bad habits like drugs etc. To eradicate the problem of drugs and illiteracy in these rural areas, he envisioned that education was the only solution.

With the aim of establishing quality educational institutions at the doorstep of rural children, 129 CBSE affiliated Akal Academies have been constructed in the far-flung rural areas of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

Several studies have been done where it has been proven that for the overall development of a child, playtime is as important as reading time.

1. Swings play a crucial role in the development of a child by strengthening his core and sense of balance.
2. The Cerebral cortex gets stimulated with the rocking motion of the swings.
3. Research proves that students’ learning power increases after recess (lunch break).
4. A human brain organizes and interprets information through sensory input and integration.
5. Swinging offers help with the same, which provides a foundation for more complex learning and behaviour.
6. Swings enable the children to learn the skills of balance, muscle control and rhythm.

Now, as our Academies are expanding, we need funds to upgrade our existing swings and install advanced & attractive swings to encourage more participation in the games.
