Philly Seva Initiative is run by young professionals and students Our organization is seeking to create a positive impact on the Philadelphia community. Philadelphia has one of the largest populations in the country living in poverty, with over 6,000 homeless individuals. Thus, our mission is to help the poor and homeless who are actively looking for jobs in the Philadelphia region regardless of identity. Driven by the belief that every individual is divine, we recognize our inherent responsibility of Vand ke Chankna: Sikhi's core value to serve those around us. Through compassion and humility we strive for equal opportunity for all.
Our bi-monthly budget is $1,000 which will supply goods like toothbrushes, toothpaste, toiletries, canned goods, hand sanitizer and other supplies. The Shelter homes about 800 people which includes children so our goal is to help at least 100 individuals with each visit.
Our team is very dedicated to helping those less fortunate than ourselves. We realize that not everyone is given the same opportunities and that we would like to give to communities in need. With your donations, we hope to directly impact the lives of hundreds and eventually thousands of struggling individuals.
Updates - 10/24/2018 - We have made headway to work with a homeless shelter to provide food to the homeless and I believe this will really come in use especially in the winter coming by.
Objective 1- Work with Project Home (Shelter) to provide supplies and clothes to help the homeless and jobs
Objective 2- Work with a church to provide food on a monthly basis. This option is more viable on a cost perspective.
