DANCE KARNEYA

THE ARTIST

Hi, my name is Jagraj, and I'm a songwriter and filmmaker. I believe in using my art to create a better world. Be it standing up against animal abuse, bullying, or modern-day slavery, I intend on lending my voice to the voiceless through my platform.

THE PROJECT

Dance Karneya is my latest project, attempting to champion the struggle of the migrant worker in Singapore, giving him his due respect, and credit deserved. The song is a fun dance number, told through the eyes of a Punjabi construction worker, Johnny Singh, who leaves his family and home, with high hopes of building a brighter future in a foreign land. He has big dreams and aspirations, but is of course met with the reality of the situation - one without a voice, often taken advantage of, and under appreciated.

Despite all the pain, pressure, and ridicule, forever-positive Johnny, uses this upbeat Bhangra track, to tell the world - with pride, strength, and a wide grin - no matter our problems or our worries.. "Phir Vi Appa Dance Karneya!"

WHERE YOU COME IN

Dance Karneya is my biggest project till date, and will require the hard work and dedication of many professionals and volunteers alike. In order to do the project justice, and compensate the time and effort put in by all, I'm looking to raise $30,000 from people like you, interested in seeing this vision through. The money will go into all production costs such as equipment rentals, locations, costumes, make-up, props, set design, music mixing and mastering, as well as post-production editing, colour correction, visual and graphic effects, and sound design amongst many other things.

With your help and support, we can give something back to our migrant workers. A show of our gratitude - depicting them as the heroes of their own stories - and maybe even something they can proudly show their families back home. A gesture to show they are in our hearts, and that we appreciate all they've done for us, especially in this trying time.

If you've read this far, there's a good chance you believe in this project, and I implore you to contribute however much you can. The goal is ambitious no doubt, but together, we can give our migrant friends something to remember.

Genuinely,

Jagraj
